Empowering Students with the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Weekly Report by Esther Tibesigwa

Introduction:

In this weekly report by Esther Tibesigwa, a facilitator from Youth Rising International, we delve into the activities conducted as part of our guidance and counseling program. Focusing on the session held at St Consolanta Primary School, we aim to empower students with essential life skills through the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Join us as we highlight our efforts to foster personal growth and success in these young individuals.

Activities Conducted This Week:

During our session at St Consolanta Primary School on June 29th, 2023, we introduced the students to the transformative “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Here’s an overview of the topics covered:

  1. Introduction to the 7 Habits: We explored the concept of effectiveness in their daily lives, emphasizing the importance of being proactive and identifying areas for improvement.
  2. Model Good Character: Through discussions, we highlighted the qualities of individuals with excellent character. By defining their aspirations and learning from positive role models, the students were encouraged to implement these principles in their own lives.
  3. Checking the Paradigm: We guided students to assess their perceptions and emotions regarding various aspects of their lives. By identifying their current paradigm and areas for change, we helped them align their mindset with their goals.

Habit 1: “Being Proactive” (The Habit of Personal Responsibility):

Our focus was on personal responsibility as a key factor for growth and happiness. Engaging activities helped students understand the importance of proactive language and strategies to overcome reactive behavior.

Activities Due Next Week:

Looking ahead, we will explore Habit 2: “Begin with the End in Mind.” We are excited to continue empowering students at St Consolanta Primary School and Alpha and Omega Primary School.

Conclusion:

Esther Tibesigwa, as the facilitator of this guidance and counseling program, is thrilled to witness the positive transformations of students at St Consolanta Primary School. Through the introduction of the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” our aim is to equip them with valuable life skills and foster positive habits. Youth Rising International remains dedicated to community transformation and student success. Stay tuned for updates on our journey of empowerment!
